Olivia's Review; I've eagerly anticipated this next installment in the Land of Stories, and it hasn't disappointed! The characters were all spot-on, and I loved getting to see Connor's imagination through his stories and how they reflected the Bailey twins's adventures. The writing was humorous and fast-paced - there was never a slow moment in the story. The plot was exciting and suspenseful, a perfect read for kids of all ages. I fell in love with this series a while ago and am thrilled that there will, indeed, be another book in the series after this one. Overall, an exciting, action-packed, super creative, funny, clever fifth installment to the Land of Stories!Reviewed by a 12 year old girlOscar's Review: I really loved this book. In every chapter when you thought something was going well, the ship would sink and everything would be submerged and the story would be shaken. I really don't have that much to say about this book because I love it so much, but I do have one thing: most who read this book will love it as they've loved, in turn, the first, second, third, and fourth books in the series. There was also a HUGE, interesting, and unexpected twist that really shook up the story and increased the suspense and excitement levels by a tenfold. This book series is amazing!!! It is so creative and imaginative, with comedy and adventure, danger and drama and magic, deeply thought out characters, and vivid descriptions! It is engaging and draws you in from the very beginning of the first book of the series. The entire world that the author has created is so original, complex but clear, and complete, it feels real!!! It is an exciting and fun read. Best of all, one of the best things about this series is that, unlike many others, each book is just as fantastic as the next!!!! You will be right there with the characters on their journey from start to finish, and as soon as you reach the end of each book you will be just dying to begin the next!!!
We have a tween who is absolutely in love with this series. Great gift idea for anyone who enjoys fantasy type books (Tuesdays at the Castle, Harry Potter, Ever After High, Princess Academy etc.). We are quite careful to make sure content is age appropriate for our tween (with an 11th grade reading level) and have found these books to entertain without worry of introducing subjects too adult at this point. All the stories revolve around a brother and sister who find themselves actually inside a fairy tale land and coming into contact with/relying on/fleeing from story book characters they grew up reading about. They are witty books and hard to put down; our veracious reader finishes them within 24 hours of getting them. Highly recommend.
I REALLY enjoyed this book! It was filled with adventure, mystery, and humor. As soon as I got it I couldn't stop reading. It was overall an AMAZING book!
Loved the book! I have been a big fan of The Land of Stories series. The only thing was the ending. There was a pretty big cliffhanger at the end of the fourth book and an even BIGGER one at the end of this one. I don't mind the occasional cliffhanger, but there needs to be some resolution. In this book it felt like we were just tying up lose ends from the last book, and then we were finally getting to the point we were before, and then boom, the book ended. Just as we were getting somewhere, all the progress stopped. I can't blame you for keeping us in suspense though! all in all, I enjoyed the book, but I JUST GET REALLY HUNG UP ON ENDINGS! They can really make it or break it for me.I also wish more characters from the last book could've been incorporated into this one. For instance, Arthur and Merlin were a big part of the last book! I felt like there should've been more than just half a chapter about them.I read really fast,( I also think the fifth book could've been longer! It did not feel like 439 pages!) so after that I finished the fifth book, I instantly went looking for the next one. I couldn't find anywhere that there's even going to be a sixth book! I really hope there's an update on it soon, because there wasn't even supposed to be a another book and I need at least a confirmation that there is one!I recommend reading this book if you have already read the rest of this series, but if you haven't you DEFINITELY need to go back and read the first four, or you will be REALLY confused. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the ending, but I still loved the book anyway and hope the sixth comes out soon! Thank you for reading my EXTREMELY long review!
this book was really great! I really liked how readers got to experience Conner's short story's. this book had such imaginative characters and I can't wait for the next book to come out!!
Colfer is a master of making you chew your fingernails all year until the next book comes out, and making you want to smack you head into your book. The book was amazing and I was up all night reading. This book get fairly scary at some parts but always comes back with its charm
